7 Job Application Tips For Fresh Graduates

Fresh from the four corners of the classroom, getting a job is not what Plato would have thought of. Without reasons to be unemployed after graduation, it's time to set aside your books and suit up in the world of labor.
The entry-level job market is always competitive though it may be an opportunity for fresh graduates. Getting your job application right will just pave way for the job offer. Whether you are aiming to be in the healthcare or finance sector, here are tips for you to consider:
Job Search

1. Find a job you are interested in. Job search can be trial and error but of course, you don't want to waste your time working on a job you won't like or employers giving up resources for you. Ask yourself if you'd like to do what's in the job description.
2. Be a brand. Employers are also proactively looking for potential candidates. Having a LinkedIn account isn't enough. Make yourself available in the search engines by starting a blog or a website even if you don't have much experience to show in your online profile. Depending on the industry, sample works are a validation of your skill. Remember, there are more web 2.0 users like you so you have to stand out in the crowd.
3. Grow your job search network. Job search engines like Indeed and Linkup helps support your search in job boards, social networks, and offline efforts. Keep in touch with your school because they also guide their graduates in looking for entry-level jobs.
Resume
4. Be relevant. Recruiters only devote less than a minute to read through your resume. Put relevant transferable skills and experience in your resume. If the job requires technical skill, prioritize it as your skill but highlight your verbal and written skills when a job places most importance in communication. Since you are a fresh graduate and may not have work experience, don't forget to include your internships, part-time and volunteer work, and organization memberships.
5. Let them see a career summary. Get the recruiter really read your resume. You can get their attention by providing a summary of relevant qualifications.
Interview
6. Do your homework. After having the recruiter become interested in your application, retain that interest like having knowledge about the company and being honest about your career plans. Simply put, prepare and practice.
7. Strengthen the visual impression. Dress appropriately and bring necessary things in the interview. Posture and gestures are also taken into consideration. Prove to them you are ready to take on the job you wanted.
Job applications might get a little bumpy. That's why it needs preparation in your part. Sometimes you may discover your plan wasn't that satisfying. If you don't get deeply in love with your first job, focus on the skills you are gaining. Are these the skills and experience you want to build on? Start small and aspire to greater heights so let's get your career rolling now.
